Michelle Speller-Thurman is Division Counsel with Abbott Laboratories and focuses on global mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, private equity investments and licensing transactions. Prior to joining Abbott, Michelle was Corporate Counsel with Hewitt Associates LLC. Michelle is active with the Black Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater Chicago, Inc. and is a Board Member for the 2018-2019 bar year. She received the Abbott President’s Award in 2012 for contributions to the legal division and was featured as a 2009 and 2008 Illinois Rising Star for corporate law (Illinois Super Lawyer magazine). She was also listed in the inaugural edition of “Who’s Who in Black Chicago” in 2006. Michelle earned her B.S. in finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law.
